Seattle Senior Photos: A Natural Session at the Arboretum

There’s something really special about photographing someone in a season of becoming.

Senior year holds so much — anticipation, transition, a sense of stepping into something new, and even a reflection on everything that has come so far. I feel like these moments deserve to be documented in a way that feels real and grounded, not overly posed or forced.

And just recently, I had the chance to photograph a senior session at the Washington Park Arboretum, and it felt like a perfect fit.

A Natural Approach to Senior Photos

Instead of focusing on stiff poses or trying to create something overly polished, we kept things simple. We walked through the trails, paused where the light felt good, or where there was a pretty tree (not hard to find there), and let the session unfold naturally.

There was space to move, to laugh, to be quiet — to just be.

And that’s always the goal for me: To create images that feel like an honest reflection of who someone is in this moment of their life.

More Than Just a Yearbook Photo

Senior photos don’t have to feel like a checklist item.

They can be something more:

A way to pause and acknowledge who you are right now.
A way to document this in-between season.
A way to create images that actually feel like you.

A New Offering - Simple Senior Session

This session also felt like the beginning of something new for me as a photographer.

While I don’t have senior sessions formally listed as a service just yet, I’ll be opening up a small number of senior photo sessions in Seattle moving forward.

These will be approached in the same way I photograph families:

  • relaxed, gentle posing

  • natural, but fun

  • and centered on connection rather than perfection

To start, I’ll be offering a single, simple option:

Senior Sessions - $550

  • 60–75 minute session

  • 1 location (like the Arboretum, Golden Gardens, or another favorite spot)

  • 2 outfits

  • A mix of gently guided + natural moments

  • 30+ edited images

If you (or your senior) are looking for photos that feel a little more relaxed and true to who they are, I’d love to connect.
